Menopause is a natural process that all women go through, typically between 40 and 50 years of age. It is the time in a woman’s life when her menstrual cycle and her reproduction stops. A woman is born with a finite number of eggs in her ovaries. Menopause occurs when it has been 12 months since her last menstrual period. At this point the ovaries no longer release an egg every month and have stopped making most of their estrogen, therefore, bringing an end to a woman’s menstruation cycle. Natural menopause is a gradual process and has 3 stages. Perimenopause is the first stage and typically begins several years before menopause. The ovaries gradually make less estrogen and many woman have menopause symptoms during this stage. Menopause is the second stage, and the third stage is postmenopause. The last stage occurs years after menopause and the menopause symptoms ease for most women
